This morning I woke feeling unusually refreshed and, why not admit it, genuinely happy after a long and peaceful night's sleep. Most likely because of the news announced the previous day, promising to reshape Portugal over the next quarter of a century.
The Portuguese Housing Market Survey (RICS/Ci), released on 5 August 2026 with data for June 2026, points to a sales market losing some of the momentum seen in previous months. Demand from new buyers and agreed sales both slowed, and short-term expectations turned broadly neutral. Prices, however, are still rising — at a more moderate pace, but...
New residential developments are essential, but they are only part of the answer. In Portugal, thousands of smaller renovation projects can also play an important role in increasing housing supply, supporting local economies and preserving the character of towns and cities.
